Speeding in a School Zone?

Police Minister Jack Dempsey is  urging drivers to take care in schools zones when students return to their studies this week. Mr Dempsey warned police would not hesitate to use the full force of the law for those caught speeding in school zones.
“Children will be excited and unpredictable around school zones so drivers not only have to slow down, but they should also keep a good eye out for the unexpected,” Mr Dempsey said.

“There are no excuses for placing little lives in danger and that’s exactly what speeding in school zones does.

“Slowing down to the school zone speed limit of 40km/hr dramatically reduces the stopping distance of an average car and could save lives.

“The Queensland Police Service (QPS) does not tolerate speeding at any time and will be ready to catch those who disobey the school zone speed limit."

“The best way to avoid a speeding fine is to not speed at all."
