February 2014 - Area Coordinators Intro

Welcome to our first newsletter for calendar year 2014!

It seems amazing to this that the devastating impact of Cyclone Oswald was 12 months ago… where has the time gone?

With the recent advent of 2014 cyclones in North Queensland it is perhaps a timely reminder that whilst we have not been cyclone/storm affected as yet this season it is a prudent safety measure to ensure that we are ‘Storm ready’ at all times.

Check your candles, matches, torches, gas cylinders, battery powered radios and water access plans to cope with no pump. Have a torch at the ready when it’s late at night and the lights suddenly go out, so you can immediately start your power out procedures. I trust and hope that we will not be affected by storms this season, but preparedness is key.

In the words of Ben Franklin - "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."

Until the next newsletter, stay safe!
