Thwarting the Thieves!
A great big THANK YOU! to the brave and immediate actions of an Eagle Heights resident who called a challenge upon two criminals about to break into her neighbours home on Magnetic Drive on 25th February at 1pm. These offenders’ actions are typical of the criminal behaviour we experience on Tamborine Mountain and the Village whereby offenders from the Logan or Gold Coast come to our suburbs in stolen motor vehicles and commit burglaries as they travel from location to location.
On this occasion a vigilant neighbour called upon the thieves who decamped in their stolen car and fortunately immediately left the Mountain via Tamborine Oxenford Road where they continued their crime spree through Upper Coomera and were tracked by Police helicopter to the Logan Hyperdome where CCTV captures the well known criminals getting into an accomplice’s vehicle and leaving. These dogs will have their day but unfortunately your friendly boys and girls in blue have great difficulty keeping them off the streets.
I have no doubt that were it not for this lady’s brave actions and immediately calling police with an accurate description of the vehicle, registration number and offenders that there would have been a spate of burglaries in the Eagle Heights area that day. Don’t ever take these people face-on if you are alone or not in the situation where assistance is immediately available as your personal safety is above all else the most valuable asset in life!
Please continue to be vigilant and aware of your neighbourhood. Suspect vehicles and people are not too hard to pick. Perhaps a car slowly driving down your street two or three times with ordinary looking and dressed individuals who wont look you in the eye? Hoodies are common, as are caps and sunglasses to mask appearances. Don’t be fooled by the type of car also! These offenders have worked it out and continually steal keys to the modern cars at the homes they burgle and will steal and swap cars as they travel from place to place! It could be a brand new Mercedes Benz in your street. I’ve said it a dozen times before, if you have someone on your doorstep who is asking for directions then it’s a sure bet they have come to your property to burgle it and checking if there is anyone home first!
The days are here now that we can’t even leave our car keys on the key rack in the kitchen or lounge for fear of being burgled and then having our cars stolen!
If you call the North Tamborine Police Station and don’t appear to immediately get through to us, I ask you to hang up and call 000 for these incidents!
New Blue Light Disco equipment arriving!
We are elated to report that our brand new Blue Light disco equipment and trailer arrived and we are looking forward to a new era of improved technology for the Tamborine Mountain Blue Light Discos! At this stage our first Disco is scheduled for the 4th April 2014. Hope to see all the kids there!
That’ll do for now, I hope you are all very well and looking forward to the cooler months ahead as we rocket into 2014!
Kind regards,
Sgt Mick JONES
