May 2015 - Area Co-ordinators Intro

Just where has the time gone – we are almost half way through the year, winter is almost upon us and I just realised that it is now 2 years since we transitioned across to our electronic version of the newsletter, supported by a limited print run…

And speaking of a change is seasons, is it now the perfect time to think about winter fire safety matters – smoke alarms, heating appliances & kitchen fire safety.

Our next meeting is specifically aimed at Kitchen fire safety. Winter may be the time to cook hearty meals but hot oil in pots and pans is the cause of many fires originating in the kitchen. Keep a watchful eye on your cooking and come & hear Geoff’s insights on what we should be doing to be savvy about fire safety in the heart of the home.

There is an article below about a negligent driving fine that is seemingly issued by the Australian Federal Police. It is a scam. I googled this scam, it would seem that this scam has been detected far and wide – Canberra & Townsville to name a couple of targeted locations. Now the Gold Coast. Be aware and don’t be unwittingly caught!

Until the next newsletter, stay safe!
