SCAM WATCH - ATO SCAM...............

    

Please be aware of the SCAM which is currently occurring.

Runaway Bay station has had in an excess of over 10 persons who have informed the station that they have received a call from a male person claiming to be from the ATO ( Australian Taxation Office) indicating that money is owed them and stating that if you do not pay the supposed debt that your house will be seized by the ATO and you will also be arrested.
They direct you withdraw a large sum of money form your personal account and then attend the post office to deposit the money at the post office and will provide you with instructions when you attend the post office.

DO NOT DO THIS! THIS IS A SCAM AND THIS IS NOT THE TAX OFFICE!

Should you be in receipt of one of these scam phone calls please report the matter immedatly to WWW.ACORN.GOV.AU.

The ATO would not contact you via phone in this manner nor will the ATO make threats to you over the phone.
