Happy New Year, one & all!!
I am beyond amazed that we are already into February… And I thought last year flew by too fast….
The year is flying by and we are well and truly into storm season. Ready or not - the high temperatures and high humidity levels are the perfect ingredients for storms, and their variable natural consequences…
The State Government & RACQ have again partnered via the “Get Ready” campaign to inform Queenslanders about simple precautions that could reduce the risks associated with natural disasters. This newsletter contains some simple checklists from the campaign that may assist all of us to plan & prepare. Frighteningly, RACQ research indicates well over one third of Queenslanders are unprepared for storms & cyclones and the same number don’t know what to do if their home or surrounds is threatened by bushfires.
For more information on how to protect yourself or loved one against natural disasters, visit the website www.getready.qld.gov.au.
You may notice that we have a new meeting time and a new meeting location for the meeting later this month. Support for our Neighbourhood Watch Group is waning – we are having an evening meeting on the northern side of the mountain in a bid to encourage your attendance. NHW is a community effort aimed at benefiting all who live on our beautiful mountain. Please show your support if you have the time to do so.
Until the next newsletter, stay safe!
