Be prepared for fire season in the Scenic Rim

With very hot and dry conditions already upon us in the Scenic Rim, it’s important to be prepared for possible fires in your area.
You don’t have to live in the bush to be threatened by bushfires, just close enough to be affected by burning materials, embers and smoke.

It’s too late to start planning as a fire is approaching your home so prepare your family now so everyone knows what to do.

The Rural Fire Service Queensland advises you to action your Bushfire Survival Plan now, which you can prepare by visiting www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au. There are many tips on this site, including how to prepare your home so that you can minimise your risk.

To be prepared it’s important to clear debris from your gutters, mow your grass regularly and remove excess ground fuels and combustible material, along with many other helpful tips which can be found on the website.

Police also advise to monitor the fire and weather situation through your local radio station, as well as www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au
and www.bom.gov.au
and to call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
