myPolice Logan would like to remind motorists that Monday 11 July 2016 is the first day back at school for Term 3. Police will be out and about and monitoring the following:
- School zones, including speeding offences in 40km/h zones
- Parking and no standing zone offences in relation to the drop off and pick-up of children at school
- School crossings
- Speeding detected in back streets around schools to avoid school zones
- Any other offences detected around schools.

The following infringements can apply to drivers observed committing the following:
- Speeding – fines ranging from $157 to $1099
- Fail to give to pedestrian/bicycle on pedestrian crossing – $353
- Stop contrary to continuous yellow edge line – $47
- The loss of demerit points may also apply
Parents and carers are reminded to park in the designated areas to ensure that children are not put at risk by walking out onto roadways between parked cars.
Police would also like to urge parents and carers to familiarise themselves with school drop-off and pick-up practices, discuss with their children road safety and to obey the road rules at all times.
Following the directions of school crossing supervisors, and allowing a little extra time for your trip due to the increase in traffic around schools, will go a long way towards ensuring the safety of children on their way to or return from school.
